What are you crossing off your bucket list?

A river cruise in Europe.

RVing the lower 48 states.

Scuba diving in Bali.

Spending the night on the ice in Antarctica.  Yes, that Antarctica.  I have a client did it.   It was something that she always wanted to do.

Where do you want to go?  What do you want to do?

Can you visualize what it would look like in your mind?

For me, the reality is always a little bit different than what you visualize.  This summer I was able to cross off an item on my list:  Snowboarding in July.  I thought that this would have taken place in the Southern Hemisphere where it is currently Winter, instead, it took place at Squaw Valley.   In California.   In shorts and a t-shirt.  It was 70 degrees on the mountain.  It was July 2nd and everyone was decked out in Patriotic July 4th gear.

Not what I was visualizing in my head.  It was better.  I was on the mountain with my two kids seeing the smiles on their faces.  In July.  I changed into my flip-flops at the top of the tram before we went down the mountain.

To me, the best part about crossing off a bucket list item is comparing what you thought the experience would be vs. how it really turned out.

Theory vs. Reality.

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but an experience in that picture is worth far more.  In my mind, the picture never does justice for actually being there and experiencing it.

So.. what is on your list?  Do you have one?  Are going to live with the theory of what it could be?  Or the reality what it was?

What are you going to cross off your bucket list this year?
